Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, wooden joinery and carpentry exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a prominent expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Poland (X tons) was the main destination for wooden joinery and carpentry exports from Ukraine, accounting for a 26% share of total exports. Moreover, wooden joinery and carpentry exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Romania (X tons), threefold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Poland amounted to +16.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Romania (+30.5% per year) and Germany (+4.4% per year).

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the key foreign market for builders' joinery and carpentry of wood exports from Ukraine, comprising 29% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Romania ($X), with an 8.5% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 6.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Poland totaled +17.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Romania (+30.0% per year) and Germany (+9.3% per year).

In 2021, the average wooden joinery and carpentry export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 9.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

For the third consecutive year, Ukraine recorded growth in supplies from abroad of builders' joinery and carpentry of wood, which increased by 33% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of wooden joinery and carpentry to Ukraine, accounting for a 29% share of total imports. Moreover, wooden joinery and carpentry imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Austria (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Czech Republic (X tons), with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Russia totaled +11.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Austria (+4.9% per year) and the Czech Republic (+15.4% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest wooden joinery and carpentry suppliers to Ukraine, with a combined 47% share of total imports. Austria, the Czech Republic, Belarus, Slovakia, Hungary, Italy, Serbia, China, Estonia and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 43%.

The Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +10.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average wooden joinery and carpentry import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 2.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($X per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
