Russia (X tons) was the main destination for ceramic household article exports from Ukraine, with a 82% share of total exports. Moreover, ceramic household article exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Moldova (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Romania (X tons), with a 2.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Russia stood at -10.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Moldova (+3.5% per year) and Romania (+63.0% per year).
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the key foreign market for ceramic household articles and toilet articles exports from Ukraine, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Moldova ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 6.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Russia totaled -18.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Moldova (+7.9% per year) and Germany (+16.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average ceramic household article export price amounted to $X per ton, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 11% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Moldova (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Ukraine
Ceramic household article imports into Ukraine expanded notably to X tons in 2021, picking up by 14% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 57%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, ceramic household article imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 43%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest ceramic household article supplier to Ukraine, with a 89% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey (X tons), with a 2.6% share of total imports. Poland (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to -7.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+17.6% per year) and Poland (-7.2% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of ceramic household articles and toilet articles to Ukraine, comprising 83% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 4.2% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 3.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to -4.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+21.3% per year) and Poland (-0.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average ceramic household article import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 13% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, ceramic household article import price increased by +62.2% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
