In value terms, double or complex silicates exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 425%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for double or complex silicates exports from Ukraine, with a 71% share of total exports. Moreover, double or complex silicates exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X kg), threefold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany totaled +50.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (+31.1% per year) and Georgia (+78.5% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for double or complex silicates exported from Ukraine were Germany ($X), Russia ($X) and Georgia ($X), together accounting for 94% of total exports.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Georgia, with a CAGR of +91.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average double or complex silicates export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -6.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a pronounced expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 87% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, approx. X tons of double or complex silicates were imported into Ukraine; declining by -12.9% against 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 203% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, double or complex silicates imports expanded modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw notable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 152% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons), Germany (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of double or complex silicates imports to Ukraine, together accounting for 51% of total imports. These countries were followed by Spain, Russia, Italy, Estonia and Turkey, which together accounted for a further 16%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Italy (with a CAGR of +46.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest double or complex silicates suppliers to Ukraine were Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and China ($X), together comprising 34% of total imports.

Italy, with a CAGR of +27.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average double or complex silicates import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 70%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
