The exports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, driving and non-driving axle exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Russia (X tons) was the main destination for driving and non-driving axle exports from Ukraine, accounting for a 48% share of total exports. Moreover, driving and non-driving axle exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belarus (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Hungary (X tons), with a 7.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Russia stood at +4.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (-4.8% per year) and Hungary (+22.1% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the key foreign market for driving and non-driving axle exports from Ukraine, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 6.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Russia was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (-6.4% per year) and Hungary (+19.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average driving and non-driving axle export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Afghanistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+14.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Drive-Axles with Differential and Non-Driving Axles

In 2021, the amount of drive-axles with differential and non-driving axles imported into Ukraine stood at X tons, picking up by 12% on the previous year. Overall, imports, however, saw a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 29%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, driving and non-driving axle imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) were the main suppliers of driving and non-driving axle imports to Ukraine, together comprising 65% of total imports. These countries were followed by the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States, Poland, India, the UK, Turkey and South Korea, which together accounted for a further 32%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +44.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X), Belarus ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) appeared to be the largest driving and non-driving axle suppliers to Ukraine, with a combined 45% share of total imports. The United States, Russia, Italy, Germany, Japan, Poland, India, Turkey, the UK and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 48%.

Turkey, with a CAGR of +43.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average driving and non-driving axle import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.9%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
