Capacitor Market Size in Ukraine

The Ukrainian capacitor market soared to $X in 2021, with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption showed a buoyant increase. Capacitor consumption peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Capacitor Production in Ukraine

In value terms, capacitor production totaled $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, faced a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 31%. Capacitor production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports from Ukraine

In 2021, capacitor exports from Ukraine surged to X tons, jumping by 16% against the year before. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 62% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, capacitor exports reduced to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a noticeable setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 109% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Hungary (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main destinations of capacitor exports from Ukraine, together accounting for 62% of total exports. Uzbekistan, Russia, the Netherlands and Kazakhstan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +528.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for capacitor exported from Ukraine were Hungary ($X), Poland ($X) and Belarus ($X), together comprising 81% of total exports. These countries were followed by Russia, the Netherlands, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, which together accounted for a further 11%.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +542.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average capacitor export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -25.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 56%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2020, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+16.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Ukraine

In 2021, purchases abroad of electrical capacitors was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Overall, total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, capacitor imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest capacitor supplier to Ukraine, with a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, capacitor imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Japan (X tons), with a 4.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +11.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+66.1% per year) and Japan (+4.6% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of electrical capacitors to Ukraine, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 4.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +14.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (+9.8% per year) and South Korea (-2.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average capacitor import price amounted to $X per ton, leveling off at the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, capacitor import price increased by +53.1% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 29% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
