Feldspar Market Size in Ukraine

After two years of growth, the Ukrainian feldspar market decreased by -78.2% to $X in 2021. Overall, consumption continues to indicate a significant decline. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 117%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, feldspar exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 153%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Russia (X tons) was the main destination for feldspar exports from Ukraine, with a 70% share of total exports. Moreover, feldspar exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (X tons), fourfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Russia amounted to +19.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+228.1% per year) and Belarus (+61.5% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the key foreign market for feldspar exports from Ukraine, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 13% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Russia amounted to +22.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+235.3% per year) and Belarus (+47.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average feldspar export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 4.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 29% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Ukraine

In 2021, the amount of feldspar imported into Ukraine dropped to X tons, waning by -6% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -8.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 43% against the previous year. In general, total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -1.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Turkey (X tons) was the main feldspar supplier to Ukraine, with a 92% share of total imports. Moreover, feldspar imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Russia (X tons), more than tenfold. The Czech Republic (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 1.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Turkey stood at +7.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (-15.3% per year) and the Czech Republic (+77.4% per year).

In value terms, Turkey ($X) constituted the largest supplier of feldspar to Ukraine, comprising 88% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 4.5% share of total imports. It was followed by Russia, with a 3.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Turkey stood at +5.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+66.6% per year) and Russia (-19.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average feldspar import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (-2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
