In 2021, overseas shipments of ferro-cerium and pyrophoric alloys increased by 270% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 1,937% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, ferro-cerium and pyrophoric alloys exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 1,683%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons), France (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main destinations of ferro-cerium and pyrophoric alloys exports from Ukraine, together comprising 83% of total exports. The United States, Poland and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 12%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the United States (with a CAGR of +401.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), France ($X) and the UK ($X) constituted the largest markets for ferro-cerium and pyrophoric alloys exported from Ukraine worldwide, with a combined 77% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Poland and Austria, which together accounted for a further 17%.
The United States, with a CAGR of +365.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average ferro-cerium and pyrophoric alloys export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 4.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 44% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (-1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Ferro-Cerium And Pyrophoric Alloys
Imports into Ukraine
In 2021, ferro-cerium and pyrophoric alloys imports into Ukraine soared to X tons, increasing by 47% on 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 60%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, ferro-cerium and pyrophoric alloys imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of ferro-cerium and pyrophoric alloys to Ukraine, with a 57% share of total imports. Moreover, ferro-cerium and pyrophoric alloys imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), fourfold. Turkey (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Poland amounted to +6.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+125.2% per year) and Turkey (-5.1% per year).
In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of ferro-cerium and pyrophoric alloys to Ukraine, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Poland totaled +1.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+401.0% per year) and Turkey (-6.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average ferro-cerium and pyrophoric alloys import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -8.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 56%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+18.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
