Market Size for Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine and Iodine in Ukraine
After two years of growth, the Ukrainian market for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines decreased by -6.9% to $X in 2021. Overall, the total consumption indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +51.5% against 2018 indices. Fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine consumption peaked at $X in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.
Production of Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine and Iodine in Ukraine
In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine production declined to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, the total production indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +64.2% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the production volume increased by 49% against the previous year. Fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine production peaked at $X in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

Exports from Ukraine
Fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports from Ukraine fell to X tons in 2021, with a decrease of -14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports saw a precipitous decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 596% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Lithuania (X tons) was the main destination for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports from Ukraine, with a 73% share of total exports. Moreover, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports to Lithuania exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Moldova (X tons), threefold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Lithuania amounted to +14.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Moldova (-39.4% per year) and Poland (-46.0% per year).
In value terms, Lithuania ($X) remains the key foreign market for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines exports from Ukraine, comprising 90% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 7.7% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Lithuania totaled +44.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (-30.8% per year) and Moldova (-28.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average export price for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 435%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Moldova ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (+62.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine and Iodine
Imports into Ukraine
In 2021, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines, when their volume decreased by -9.7% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 396%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports reduced sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 316% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Romania (X tons) constituted the largest fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine supplier to Ukraine, with a 45% share of total imports. Moreover, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports from Romania exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Slovakia (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by India (X tons), with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Romania amounted to +250.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Slovakia (+294.0% per year) and India (+235.0% per year).
In value terms, the largest fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine suppliers to Ukraine were Romania ($X), India ($X) and Chile ($X), together comprising 80% of total imports. These countries were followed by Slovakia, Hungary and Russia, which together accounted for a further 20%.
Among the main suppliers, Slovakia, with a CAGR of +345.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average import price for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines amounted to $X per ton, declining by -9.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 120%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+13.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
