From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, flywheels and pulleys exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 56%. The exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Russia (X tons) was the main destination for flywheels and pulleys exports from Ukraine, with a 63% share of total exports. Moreover, flywheels and pulleys exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kazakhstan (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Belarus (X tons), with an 8.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Russia was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (-0.8% per year) and Belarus (+7.2% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Belarus ($X) were the largest markets for flywheels and pulleys exported from Ukraine worldwide, together comprising 82% of total exports. These countries were followed by Bulgaria and Finland, which together accounted for a further 7.7%.

Finland, with a CAGR of +179.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 22%. There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Ukraine

In 2021, overseas purchases of flywheels and pulleys increased by 23% to X tons, rising for the sixth consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports saw resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 73% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, flywheels and pulleys imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 61%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest flywheels and pulleys supplier to Ukraine, accounting for a 31% share of total imports. Moreover, flywheels and pulleys imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Turkey (X tons), with a 9.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+8.8% per year) and Turkey (+40.9% per year).

These countries were followed by the United States, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, South Korea, Romania, Hungary, Russia, the Czech Republic and Belarus, which together accounted for a further 44%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Romania, with a CAGR of +130.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average flywheels and pulleys import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, leveling off at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, posted buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 57% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
