The Ukrainian fork-lift truck market shrank sharply to $X in 2022, falling by -37.2% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, showed slight growth. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2021, and then declined sharply in the following year.

In 2022, exports of fork-lift trucks from Ukraine surged to X units, increasing by 68% against the previous year's figure. In general, exports continue to indicate a modest expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 215% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, fork-lift truck exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 116% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Poland (X units), Romania (X units) and Moldova (X units) were the main destinations of fork-lift truck exports from Ukraine, with a combined 66% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +57.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Romania ($X), Poland ($X) and Bulgaria ($X) constituted the largest markets for fork-lift truck exported from Ukraine worldwide, with a combined 55% share of total exports. Hungary, Italy, Germany, Latvia, Turkey, Moldova, Slovakia, Georgia and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.

Turkey, with a CAGR of +134.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average fork-lift truck export price amounted to $X per unit, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 89% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+85.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After seven years of growth, overseas purchases of fork-lift trucks decreased by -31.4% to X units in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate pronounced growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 99%. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then fell notably in the following year.

In value terms, fork-lift truck imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 85%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell significantly in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest fork-lift truck supplier to Ukraine, with a 79% share of total imports. Moreover, fork-lift truck imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), more than tenfold. The UK (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +6.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-4.3% per year) and the UK (+9.1% per year).

In value terms, the UK ($X), France ($X) and Germany ($X) were the largest fork-lift truck suppliers to Ukraine, with a combined 60% share of total imports. China, Italy, Poland, Sweden and Japan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of +12.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average fork-lift truck import price amounted to $X per unit, waning by -12.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
