In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of fuel, lubricating or cooling-medium pumps for internal combustion engines, when their volume increased by 124% to X units. Overall, exports posted a moderate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 133% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fuel or lubricating pump exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 224%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

India (X units), Russia (X units) and Moldova (X units) were the main destinations of fuel or lubricating pump exports from Ukraine, with a combined 63% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Azerbaijan and Cuba, which together accounted for a further 26%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Pakistan (with a CAGR of +153.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X), India ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for fuel or lubricating pump exported from Ukraine worldwide, together comprising 64% of total exports. Moldova, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Pakistan, Hungary, Cuba, Poland and Azerbaijan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 16%.

Among the main countries of destination, Pakistan, with a CAGR of +118.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average fuel or lubricating pump export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -14.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 68%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cuba (+11.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Ukraine

For the third year in a row, Ukraine recorded growth in purchases abroad of fuel, lubricating or cooling-medium pumps for internal combustion engines, which increased by 31% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, fuel or lubricating pump imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 36%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of fuel or lubricating pump to Ukraine, with a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, fuel or lubricating pump imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X units), sixfold. Russia (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +3.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+20.1% per year) and Russia (-8.1% per year).

In value terms, the largest fuel or lubricating pump suppliers to Ukraine were China ($X), Spain ($X) and Germany ($X), together comprising 50% of total imports.

Spain, with a CAGR of +29.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average fuel or lubricating pump import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, reducing by -2.2% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, fuel or lubricating pump import price decreased by -9.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 47%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
