Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 104% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, animal guts exports contracted dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 75% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

Poland (X tons) was the main destination for animal guts exports from Ukraine, accounting for a 35% share of total exports. In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the key foreign market for guts, bladders and stomachs of animals exports from Ukraine, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with an 8.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Ghana, with an 8.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Poland amounted to +18.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Saudi Arabia (+395.8% per year) and Ghana (+23.0% per year).

The average animal guts export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 34% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a perceptible setback. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+36.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of guts, bladders and stomachs of animals increased by 45% to X tons, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports showed a measured expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 50% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, animal guts imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a measured expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Brazil (X tons) constituted the largest animal guts supplier to Ukraine, with a 85% share of total imports. Moreover, animal guts imports from Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), sevenfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Brazil amounted to +6.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (-2.7% per year) and Germany (-9.5% per year).

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constituted the largest supplier of guts, bladders and stomachs of animals to Ukraine, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 16% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Brazil stood at +5.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+1.8% per year) and Germany (-8.3% per year).

In 2022, the average animal guts import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 5.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 8.6%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the price for Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
