In 2022, shipments abroad of household refrigerators and freezers (not combined) decreased by -1% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports showed a dramatic curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 520%. The exports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-combined refrigerator-freezer exports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 726%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Poland (X units) was the main destination for non-combined refrigerator-freezer exports from Ukraine, with a 56% share of total exports. Moreover, non-combined refrigerator-freezer exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Armenia (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Moldova (X units), with a 5.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Poland amounted to +9.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Armenia (+15.2% per year) and Moldova (-17.5% per year).
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the key foreign market for household refrigerators and freezers (not combined) exports from Ukraine, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Israel ($X), with an 8.5% share of total exports. It was followed by Armenia, with a 5.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Poland amounted to +13.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Israel (+73.1% per year) and Armenia (+7.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average non-combined refrigerator-freezer export price amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -6.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 91%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Armenia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tajikistan (+28.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Ukraine
In 2022, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of household refrigerators and freezers (not combined), when their volume decreased by -65.9% to X units. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
In value terms, non-combined refrigerator-freezer imports fell significantly to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 40%. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of non-combined refrigerator-freezer to Ukraine, accounting for a 52% share of total imports. Moreover, non-combined refrigerator-freezer imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X units), twofold. Romania (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+0.7% per year) and Romania (-15.1% per year).
In value terms, China ($X), Turkey ($X) and Serbia ($X) constituted the largest non-combined refrigerator-freezer suppliers to Ukraine, together comprising 68% of total imports.
China, with a CAGR of +7.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average non-combined refrigerator-freezer import price amounted to $X per unit, growing by 5.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 16% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
