In 2021, overseas shipments of inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals increased by 72% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 837% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 162%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Armenia (X tons) was the main destination for inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals exports from Ukraine, with a 53% share of total exports. Moreover, inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals exports to Armenia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X tons), threefold. The UK (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Armenia was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-30.8% per year) and the UK (-15.7% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) remains the key foreign market for inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals exports from Ukraine, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the UK ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by the United States, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to China totaled +21.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (+65.8% per year) and the United States (-8.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average export price for inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals stood at $X per ton in 2021, which is down by -9.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 437% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Armenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Georgia (+195.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Inorganic Oxygen Compounds Of Non-Metals
Imports into Ukraine
In 2021, imports of inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals into Ukraine contracted significantly to X tons, waning by -30.2% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 107%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a perceptible setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 156% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals to Ukraine, accounting for a 54% share of total imports. Moreover, inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Austria (X tons), threefold. Hungary (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany amounted to +39.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Austria (+64.0% per year) and Hungary (+22.9% per year).
In value terms, Austria ($X), Germany ($X) and Hungary ($X) constituted the largest inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals suppliers to Ukraine, together accounting for 72% of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Austria, with a CAGR of +64.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average import price for inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 66% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 124% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
