The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the production volume increased by 26%. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, approx. X tons of iodine, fluorine and bromine were exported from Ukraine; surging by 11% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports, however, showed a sharp shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 329%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, iodine, fluorine and bromine exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 297%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Lithuania (X tons) was the main destination for iodine, fluorine and bromine exports from Ukraine, accounting for a 92% share of total exports. Moreover, iodine, fluorine and bromine exports to Lithuania exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (X kg), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Lithuania totaled +10.2%.

In value terms, Lithuania ($X) remains the key foreign market for iodine, fluorine and bromine exports from Ukraine, comprising 90% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 7.7% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Lithuania stood at +52.0%.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average iodine, fluorine and bromine export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 22% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 557%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lithuania totaled $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+37.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Ukraine

For the third year in a row, Ukraine recorded growth in supplies from abroad of iodine, fluorine and bromine, which increased by 14% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports posted a modest increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 50%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, iodine, fluorine and bromine imports reached $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 48%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, India (X tons) constituted the largest iodine, fluorine and bromine supplier to Ukraine, accounting for a 71% share of total imports. Moreover, iodine, fluorine and bromine imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Chile (X tons), fourfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from India totaled +225.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Chile (-7.7% per year) and Russia (-11.6% per year).

In value terms, India ($X), Chile ($X) and Russia ($X) appeared to be the largest iodine, fluorine and bromine suppliers to Ukraine, together accounting for 100% of total imports.

India, with a CAGR of +135.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.

Import Prices by Country

The average iodine, fluorine and bromine import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -3.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
