The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 43%. The exports peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, medical steriliser exports fell markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports faced a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 61% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Moldova (X units), Kazakhstan (X units) and Belarus (X units) were the main destinations of medical steriliser exports from Ukraine, together comprising 78% of total exports. These countries were followed by Italy, Slovakia and Latvia, which together accounted for a further 19%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +44.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Ukraine

In 2022, overseas purchases of medical, surgical or laboratory sterilisers decreased by -32.4% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports showed a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 153%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, medical steriliser imports reduced remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 135% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

The Czech Republic (X units), China (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main suppliers of medical steriliser imports to Ukraine, with a combined 66% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, Turkey, Poland and Sweden, which together accounted for a further 26%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Sweden (with a CAGR of +26.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X), China ($X) and Germany ($X) were the largest medical steriliser suppliers to Ukraine, with a combined 61% share of total imports. Italy, Poland, Turkey and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.
