In 2022, the Ukrainian market for non-PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings decreased by -1.3% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after six years of growth. Overall, consumption, however, showed buoyant growth. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production of hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, the amount of non-PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings exported from Ukraine contracted notably to X square meters, which is down by -50.3% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 2,935%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure at X square meters in 2021, and then fell sharply in the following year.

In value terms, exports of non-PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings shrank sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 1,603%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Poland (X square meters) was the main destination for exports of non-PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings from Ukraine, with a 66% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of non-PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Moldova (X square meters), sixfold. Russia (X square meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Poland stood at +54.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Moldova (+87.5% per year) and Russia (+162.6% per year).

In value terms, Poland ($X), the UK ($X) and Lithuania ($X) were the largest markets for non-PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings exported from Ukraine worldwide, together comprising 80% of total exports.

The UK, with a CAGR of +278.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of non-pvc floor, wall and ceiling coverings into Ukraine reduced sharply to X square meters, waning by -63.2% on 2021. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 149% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X square meters in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.

The average import price for non-PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings stood at $X per square meter in 2022, picking up by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for non-PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings increased by +137.8% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 33%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
