The Ukrainian non-wheat flour market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after four years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, saw a deep reduction. Non-wheat flour consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

The exports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-wheat flour exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a measured expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Libya (X tons) was the main destination for non-wheat flour exports from Ukraine, with a 64% share of total exports. Moreover, non-wheat flour exports to Libya exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Egypt (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Belarus (X tons), with a 4.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Libya totaled +958.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Egypt (+118.7% per year) and Belarus (+23.8% per year).

In value terms, Libya ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for non-wheat flours exports from Ukraine, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Egypt ($X), with a 7.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with a 5.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Libya totaled +1,202.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Egypt (+146.4% per year) and Poland (+164.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average non-wheat flour export price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 151% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a temperate expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Libya ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Moldova ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Libya (+23.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, approx. X tons of non-wheat flours were imported into Ukraine; with an increase of 64% against the year before. Overall, imports recorded significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 19,466% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-wheat flour imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 4,028%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Belarus (X tons) was the main supplier of non-wheat flour to Ukraine, with a 98% share of total imports. It was followed by Latvia (X tons), with a 0.3% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Belarus stood at +72.9%.

In value terms, Belarus ($X) constituted the largest supplier of non-wheat flours to Ukraine, comprising 95% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Latvia ($X), with a 0.4% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Belarus totaled +58.2%.

Import Prices by Country

The average non-wheat flour import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 73%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus totaled $X per ton.
