In 2021, the Ukrainian market for non-woven, felt and coated textile garments decreased by -36.9% to $X for the first time since 2014, thus ending a six-year rising trend. Overall, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2020, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, production of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments fell to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, saw a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the production volume increased by 55% against the previous year. Production of peaked at $X in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.

In 2021, the amount of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments exported from Ukraine reduced notably to X units, waning by -35.8% on the year before. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 198%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then fell notably in the following year.

In value terms, exports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments fell dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 142% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

France (X units), Portugal (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) were the main destinations of exports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments from Ukraine, together comprising 75% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +71.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, France ($X), Portugal ($X) and Hungary ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for non-woven, felt and coated textile garment exported from Ukraine worldwide, together accounting for 64% of total exports. These countries were followed by Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany, which together accounted for a further 31%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, the Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +64.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for non-woven, felt and coated textile garments stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 4% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Ukraine

In 2021, overseas purchases of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments decreased by -66.3% to X units for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 227% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at X units in 2020, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In value terms, imports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments contracted rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 139% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest non-woven, felt and coated textile garment supplier to Ukraine, accounting for a 75% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X units), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Cambodia (X units), with a 6.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled -10.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+20.6% per year) and Cambodia (+19.9% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments to Ukraine, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Cambodia, with a 6.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to -10.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+21.0% per year) and Cambodia (+20.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average import price for non-woven, felt and coated textile garments stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 6.8% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, import price for non-woven, felt and coated textile garments increased by +38.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 58%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
