In value terms, exports of oil and water paints and varnishes surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 398%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In general, imports recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, imports of oil and water paints and varnishes skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine-year period. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Belarus totaled +48.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Austria (+77.9% per year) and Germany (+2.5% per year).

In value terms, Belarus ($X), Germany ($X) and Switzerland ($X) were the largest oil and water paints and varnishes suppliers to Ukraine, with a combined 67% share of total imports. The UK, Poland, Turkey, Italy, Austria and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.

Austria, with a CAGR of +66.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average import price for oil and water paints and varnishes amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a mild contraction. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
