In 2022, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of oil crops (primary), when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, saw a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell significantly in the following year.
In value terms, oil crops imports shrank rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of oil crops to Ukraine, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, oil crops imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United States (X tons), with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Poland totaled X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (X% per year) and the United States (X% per year).
In value terms, Turkey ($X), the United States ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the largest oil crops suppliers to Ukraine, together accounting for X% of total imports. Germany, Spain, Poland, Chile, Hungary, Moldova, India, the Czech Republic and Switzerland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
Among the main suppliers, Switzerland, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average oil crops import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
