Peroxosulphates Market Size in Ukraine

The Ukrainian peroxosulphates market contracted rapidly to $X in 2021, with a decrease of -56.1% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption recorded a drastic downturn. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, shipments abroad of peroxosulphates (persulphates) increased by 11% to X kg for the first time since 2013, thus ending a seven-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, recorded a sharp downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 99%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, peroxosulphates exports amounted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a dramatic shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 98%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Moldova (X kg), Turkmenistan (X kg) and Estonia (X kg) were the main destinations of peroxosulphates exports from Ukraine, together comprising 80% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Estonia (with a CAGR of 0.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, Moldova ($X), Turkmenistan ($X) and Estonia ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for peroxosulphates exported from Ukraine worldwide, with a combined 96% share of total exports.

Estonia, with a CAGR of 0.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

Export Prices by Country

The average peroxosulphates export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, which is down by -5.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 43%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Moldova (+25.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Ukraine

Peroxosulphates imports into Ukraine dropped significantly to X tons in 2021, with a decrease of -69.2% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports faced a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, peroxosulphates imports declined sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 72% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell notably in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest peroxosulphates supplier to Ukraine, accounting for a 54% share of total imports. Moreover, peroxosulphates imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belarus (X tons), threefold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled -14.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+61.3% per year) and Germany (+13.7% per year).

In value terms, Belarus ($X) constituted the largest supplier of peroxosulphates to Ukraine, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Russia, with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Belarus amounted to +41.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-18.7% per year) and Russia (+18.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average peroxosulphates import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 68% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, peroxosulphates import price increased by +108.0% against 2015 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
