From 2019 to 2021, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, overseas shipments of phosphorus, arsenic and selenium decreased by -4.7% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after seven years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 381% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, phosphorus, arsenic and selenium exports fell modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 100% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for phosphorus, arsenic and selenium exports from Ukraine, with a approx. 99.9% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany amounted to +55.5%.

In value terms, Germany ($X) also remains the key foreign market for phosphorus, arsenic and selenium exports from Ukraine.

The average phosphorus, arsenic and selenium export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, standing approx. at the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a sharp shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 1.4%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Germany.

In 2021, phosphorus, arsenic and selenium imports into Ukraine surged to X tons, increasing by 19% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, phosphorus, arsenic and selenium imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt downturn. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X tons), India (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main suppliers of phosphorus, arsenic and selenium imports to Ukraine, together comprising 67% of total imports. Russia, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Italy (with a CAGR of +75.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, India ($X) constituted the largest supplier of phosphorus, arsenic and selenium to Ukraine, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from India amounted to +5.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+1.6% per year) and Germany (-16.3% per year).

The average phosphorus, arsenic and selenium import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 48% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 105%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (-3.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
