Plum And Sloe Market Size in Ukraine

The Ukrainian plum and sloe market was estimated at $X in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. In 2022, the amount of plums and sloes exported from Ukraine fell significantly to X tons, reducing by -34.6% against 2021 figures. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 197,894% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plum and sloe exports fell sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 259,993% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of plums and sloes decreased by -46.7% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports showed a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 223% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plum and sloe imports declined rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 239%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Spain (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Greece (X tons) were the main suppliers of plum and sloe imports to Ukraine, with a combined 47% share of total imports. Italy, Moldova and South Africa lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Moldova (with a CAGR of +12.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

The average plum and sloe import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -12.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 71% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per ton), while the price for Moldova ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
