Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, preserved swine meat exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a precipitous contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 155%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Azerbaijan (X tons) was the main destination for preserved swine meat exports from Ukraine, accounting for a 81% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany (X kg), with a 2% share of total exports.

Imports into Ukraine

In 2021, the amount of prepared or preserved hams and cuts of swine meat imported into Ukraine shrank rapidly to X tons, waning by -21.9% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports showed a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 72%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, preserved swine meat imports declined to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 60% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Spain (X tons), Italy (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of preserved swine meat imports to Ukraine, together accounting for 91% of total imports. Belgium and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7.9%.
