In value terms, preserved swine meat exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a precipitous contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 155%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Azerbaijan (X tons) was the main destination for preserved swine meat exports from Ukraine, accounting for a 81% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany (X kg), with a 2% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Azerbaijan stood at +169.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+31.2% per year) and Greece (+76.5% per year).

In value terms, Azerbaijan ($X) remains the key foreign market for prepared or preserved hams and cuts of swine meat exports from Ukraine, comprising 37% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 1.1% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Azerbaijan stood at +161.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+35.9% per year) and Greece (+28.0% per year).

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 271% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Azerbaijan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, the amount of prepared or preserved hams and cuts of swine meat imported into Ukraine shrank rapidly to X tons, waning by -21.9% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports showed a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 72%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, preserved swine meat imports declined to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 60% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Spain (X tons), Italy (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of preserved swine meat imports to Ukraine, together accounting for 91% of total imports. Belgium and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7.9%.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+18.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
