Aircraft Propeller Market Size in Ukraine

In 2022, the Ukrainian aircraft propeller market decreased by -61% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a measured expansion. Aircraft propeller consumption peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, shipments abroad of propellers and rotors for civil non-powered aircraft, helicopters and aeroplanes decreased by -42.1% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports faced a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 200% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aircraft propeller exports stood at $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 239%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Georgia (X tons), China (X kg) and Mali (X kg) were the main destinations of aircraft propeller exports from Ukraine, together comprising 57% of total exports. Somalia, Uganda, Turkey, the United States, the UK, Croatia and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 37%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Croatia (with a CAGR of +1,219.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for propellers and rotors for civil non-powered aircraft, helicopters and aeroplanes exports from Ukraine, comprising 48% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mali ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Somalia, with a 9.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to China stood at +45.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mali (-14.2% per year) and Somalia (-15.0% per year).

In 2022, the average aircraft propeller export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 74% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 93%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Uganda ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Georgia (+28.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Ukraine

In 2022, the amount of propellers and rotors for civil non-powered aircraft, helicopters and aeroplanes imported into Ukraine reduced notably to X tons, with a decrease of -58.9% against 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 430%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, aircraft propeller imports reduced notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a perceptible contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 323% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of aircraft propeller imports to Ukraine, together accounting for 59% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +261.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest aircraft propeller suppliers to Ukraine were Russia ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and China ($X), together comprising 70% of total imports. Kazakhstan, Turkey, the United States, Uganda and Mali lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.

Turkey, with a CAGR of +459.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average aircraft propeller import price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 25% against the previous year. Overall, the import price posted mild growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 50% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
