Vehicle Radio Market Size in Ukraine

In 2022, the Ukrainian vehicle radio market increased by 156% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, consumption, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. In 2022, overseas shipments of radio receivers for motor vehicles decreased by -98.2% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 4,200%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then shrank notably in the following year.

In value terms, vehicle radio exports contracted dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a sharp decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 669%. The exports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Moldova (X units) was the main destination for vehicle radio exports from Ukraine, with a 93% share of total exports. Moreover, vehicle radio exports to Moldova exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X units), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Moldova totaled +28.5%.

In value terms, Moldova ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for radio receivers for motor vehicles exports from Ukraine, comprising 97% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 3.3% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Moldova totaled +64.9%.

The average vehicle radio export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 184% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a dramatic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 343%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Germany stood at $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Moldova (+28.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

For the third year in a row, Ukraine recorded decline in supplies from abroad of radio receivers for motor vehicles, which decreased by -69.6% to X units in 2022. In general, imports recorded a dramatic shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 160%. Imports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, vehicle radio imports shrank rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 64%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Portugal (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main suppliers of vehicle radio imports to Ukraine, with a combined 77% share of total imports. Moreover, vehicle radio imports in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Portugal, twofold.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Portugal (with a CAGR of +65.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X), Germany ($X) and Portugal ($X) were the largest vehicle radio suppliers to Ukraine, together comprising 73% of total imports.

Portugal, with a CAGR of +51.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average vehicle radio import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 121% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 193%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+317.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
