In 2021, shipments abroad of reclaimed rubber decreased by -13.1% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after four years of growth. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, reclaimed rubber exports reduced to $X in 2021. Overall, exports faced a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 55%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Belarus (X tons) was the main destination for reclaimed rubber exports from Ukraine, with a 64% share of total exports. Moreover, reclaimed rubber exports to Belarus exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bulgaria (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Poland (X tons), with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Belarus stood at -2.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bulgaria (+0.2% per year) and Poland (-18.7% per year).
In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the key foreign market for reclaimed rubber exports from Ukraine, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Bulgaria ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with a 9.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Belarus amounted to -7.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bulgaria (-2.7% per year) and Poland (-18.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average reclaimed rubber export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 2.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Poland ($X per ton) and Bulgaria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per ton) and Serbia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (-2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Ukraine
Reclaimed rubber imports into Ukraine surged to X tons in 2021, jumping by 23% compared with 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a sharp decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 5,382%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, reclaimed rubber imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 5,790% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest reclaimed rubber supplier to Ukraine, accounting for a 75% share of total imports. Moreover, reclaimed rubber imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by India (X tons), with an 8.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Poland stood at +22.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+8.7% per year) and India (+53.6% per year).
In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of reclaimed rubber to Ukraine, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 6.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Poland amounted to +44.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+8.8% per year) and India (+71.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average reclaimed rubber import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 27% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 52%. The import price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Poland ($X per ton) and the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) and Turkey ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+19.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
