In value terms, salt exports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a dramatic decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Poland (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Romania (X tons) were the main destinations of salt exports from Ukraine, together accounting for 87% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +2.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, Poland ($X), Hungary ($X) and Romania ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for salt exported from Ukraine worldwide, with a combined 77% share of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, Hungary, with a CAGR of -2.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

The average salt export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -9.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 45%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+28.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of salt and pure sodium chloride increased by 186% to X tons, rising for the sixth year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, imports posted significant growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, salt imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a significant increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Turkey (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main suppliers of salt imports to Ukraine, with a combined 66% share of total imports. Belarus, Egypt, Germany and Morocco lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Egypt (with a CAGR of +527.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest salt suppliers to Ukraine were Turkey ($X), Romania ($X) and Poland ($X), together comprising 68% of total imports. Egypt, Germany, Belarus and Morocco lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.
Among the main suppliers, Egypt, with a CAGR of +707.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average salt import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 149% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw prominent growth. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
