Germany (X units), Poland (X units) and Denmark (X units) were the main destinations of bed-convertible seat exports from Ukraine, together accounting for 56% of total exports. Austria, France, Romania, Lithuania, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Moldova, Estonia, Russia and Kazakhstan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.

In 2021, purchases abroad of seats convertible into beds increased by 9.8% to X units, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, showed a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 79% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bed-convertible seat imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 24%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Poland (X units), China (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main suppliers of bed-convertible seat imports to Ukraine, together comprising 62% of total imports. These countries were followed by Romania, Russia, Belarus, Germany, Turkey and Estonia, which together accounted for a further 31%.

In general, import price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, bed-convertible seat import price decreased by -16.2% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 98%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
