Seat Market Size in Ukraine

In 2021, the Ukrainian seat market increased by 11% to $X, rising for the fifth year in a row after four years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a pronounced decline. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, seat production amounted to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. Seat production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports from Ukraine

In 2021, approx. X tons of seats were exported from Ukraine; with an increase of 62% compared with the previous year. Overall, exports, however, showed a noticeable contraction. The exports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, seat exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a strong expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Poland (X tons) was the main destination for seat exports from Ukraine, with a 85% share of total exports. Moreover, seat exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Denmark (X tons), with a 20% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Poland amounted to +46.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+8.4% per year) and Denmark (+20.9% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for seat exported from Ukraine were Poland ($X), Denmark ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 55% share of total exports. Belgium, Austria, Lithuania, Romania, Moldova, Russia, Belarus, Latvia, Bulgaria and Uzbekistan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

Belgium, with a CAGR of +97.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average seat export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -11.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 71% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+32.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Seat Imports

Imports into Ukraine

In 2021, purchases abroad of seats increased by 13% to X tons, rising for the sixth year in a row after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports recorded temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 49%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, seat imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports enjoyed mild growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of seat to Ukraine, with a 52% share of total imports. Moreover, seat imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Turkey (X tons), with a 3.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +3.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+0.4% per year) and Turkey (+2.7% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of seats to Ukraine, comprising 63% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 7.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 4.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +6.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (-5.4% per year) and Turkey (+5.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average seat import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+8.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
