Silicates Market Size in Ukraine

In 2021, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in the Ukrainian silicates market, when its value decreased by -25.7% to $X. Overall, consumption recorded a pronounced decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 213% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, silicates exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 220% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Italy (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Romania (X tons) were the main destinations of silicates exports from Ukraine, with a combined 90% share of total exports.

As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of silicates, commercial alkali metal silicates increased by 37% to X tons, rising for the fourth year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports showed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 232% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, silicates imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 107% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Belarus (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the main suppliers of silicates imports to Ukraine, together comprising 94% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +23.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of silicates, commercial alkali metal silicates to Ukraine, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Russia, with an 8.9% share.
