Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 12%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, exports of glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles reached $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a abrupt decline. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Russia (X tons) was the main destination for exports of glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles from Ukraine, with a 92% share of total exports. It was followed by India (X tons), with a 2.6% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Russia totaled -7.2%.

Imports into Ukraine
In 2021, supplies from abroad of glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles increased by 24% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +31.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 31%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Belarus (X tons), China (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the main suppliers of imports of glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles to Ukraine, together comprising 86% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +21.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
