In general, exports continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 17%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plastic ornamental articles exports reduced notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Russia (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Moldova (X tons) were the main destinations of plastic ornamental articles exports from Ukraine, together accounting for 78% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belgium (with a CAGR of +146.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Moldova (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Ukraine

In 2022, purchases abroad of statuettes and other ornamental articles of plastic decreased by -52.2% to X tons, falling for the fourth consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, imports showed a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 44% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic ornamental articles imports dropped notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 44%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) was the main supplier of plastic ornamental articles to Ukraine, accounting for a 95% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland (X tons), with a 0.6% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to -12.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (-22.9% per year) and South Korea (-67.4% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of statuettes and other ornamental articles of plastic to Ukraine, comprising 89% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 1.2% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to -7.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (-15.4% per year) and South Korea (-52.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average plastic ornamental articles import price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -4.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, posted resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 49% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell modestly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+45.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
