The exports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, steam turbine exports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 4,703% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Kazakhstan (X units) was the main destination for steam turbine exports from Ukraine, accounting for a 98% share of total exports. It was followed by India (X units), with a 2.3% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Kazakhstan amounted to +39.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: India (+297.2% per year) and Russia (-34.3% per year).

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the key foreign market for steam turbines and other vapor turbines exports from Ukraine, comprising 99% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 0.7% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Kazakhstan amounted to +42.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: India (+3.5% per year) and Russia (-27.0% per year).

In 2021, the average steam turbine export price amounted to $X per unit, growing by 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 57% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

After four years of growth, supplies from abroad of steam turbines and other vapor turbines decreased by -96.8% to X units in 2021. In general, imports saw a sharp shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 3,535%. Imports peaked at X units in 2020, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, steam turbine imports declined rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports faced a precipitous decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 1,083%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then fell sharply in the following year.

Imports by Country

India (X units), Slovakia (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) were the main suppliers of steam turbine imports to Ukraine, together accounting for 80% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Slovakia (with a CAGR of +6.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, India ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest steam turbine suppliers to Ukraine, together comprising 96% of total imports. These countries were followed by Poland, Russia and Slovakia, which together accounted for a further 4.5%.

The average steam turbine import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 5.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded mild growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 136% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while the price for Slovakia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+973.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
