Over the period under review, production of reached the peak level at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, shipments abroad of tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone increased by 16% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after four years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 106%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone amounted to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a slight descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 90%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Moldova (X tons) was the main destination for exports of tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone from Ukraine, with a 36% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone to Moldova exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Romania (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Czech Republic (X tons), with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Moldova amounted to +1.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Romania (-6.1% per year) and the Czech Republic (+82.0% per year).

In value terms, Moldova ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Romania ($X) were the largest markets for tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone exported from Ukraine worldwide, together accounting for 66% of total exports.

In terms of the main countries of destination, the Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +106.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average export price for tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -1.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 167%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Imports into Ukraine

In 2021, purchases abroad of tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone increased by 10% to X tons, rising for the sixth consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, imports recorded a mild expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 45%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, imports of tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed noticeable growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 54%. Over the period under review, imports of reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2021, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone supplier to Ukraine, with a 38% share of total imports. In value terms, China ($X), Israel ($X) and South Korea ($X) were the largest tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone suppliers to Ukraine, together comprising 59% of total imports. Germany, Poland, Italy, France, Lithuania, Belarus, Russia and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 30%.

Lithuania, with a CAGR of +90.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average import price for tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 21% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 46% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
