Titanium Market Size in Ukraine

The Ukrainian titanium market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption posted a prominent increase. As a result, consumption attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, titanium production declined to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Ukraine

In 2022, approx. X tons of titanium sponge, powders, ingots and slabs were exported from Ukraine; waning by -83.8% on the previous year's figure. In general, exports faced a dramatic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 52%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, titanium exports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a sharp descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 71% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Estonia (X tons), the UK (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main destinations of titanium exports from Ukraine, with a combined 31% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Estonia (with a CAGR of +13.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for titanium exported from Ukraine were the UK ($X), Estonia ($X) and China ($X), together comprising 38% of total exports.

Estonia, with a CAGR of +19.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average titanium export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 24% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a mild decrease. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+11.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of titanium sponge, powders, ingots and slabs decreased by -72.4% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, imports faced a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 387%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, titanium imports contracted rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 208% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The United States (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Estonia (X tons) were the main suppliers of titanium imports to Ukraine, together comprising 76% of total imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Romania and Germany, which together accounted for a further 24%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Germany (with a CAGR of +19.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Romania ($X) and Estonia ($X) constituted the largest titanium suppliers to Ukraine, together accounting for 68% of total imports. The Netherlands, Germany and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.

Among the main suppliers, Germany, with a CAGR of +18.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.

The average titanium import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. In general, the import price enjoyed a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 98% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while the price for the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
