The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Russia (X tons), Moldova (X tons) and Mongolia (X tons) were the main destinations of toilet paper exports from Ukraine, with a combined 57% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Moldova (with a CAGR of +4.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of toilet paper decreased by -7.2% to X tons for the first time since 2015, thus ending a five-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 28%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, toilet paper imports rose modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

Austria (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of toilet paper imports to Ukraine, together comprising 72% of total imports. Lithuania, Poland, Serbia and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Serbia (with a CAGR of +59.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
