Slovakia (X units), Kazakhstan (X units) and the United States (X units) were the main destinations of truck and bus tyre exports from Ukraine, together accounting for 44% of total exports. Poland, the UK, Romania, France, Moldova, Hungary, Russia, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Azerbaijan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 51%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for France (with a CAGR of +84.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average truck and bus tyre export price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 41% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep reduction. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to France ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Ukraine

Truck and bus tyre imports into Ukraine shrank significantly to X units in 2022, waning by -24.2% against 2021 figures. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then plummeted in the following year.

In value terms, truck and bus tyre imports dropped to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 32%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest truck and bus tyre supplier to Ukraine, with a 54% share of total imports. Moreover, truck and bus tyre imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X units), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Poland (X units), with a 9.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +11.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+34.3% per year) and Poland (+5.1% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of tyres for buses or lorries to Ukraine, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 9.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +8.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+3.9% per year) and Turkey (+30.6% per year).

In 2022, the average truck and bus tyre import price amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 21% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a perceptible decrease. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while the price for Serbia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Serbia (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
