Exports from Ukraine

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of umbrellas, when their volume decreased by -38.3% to X units. Overall, exports, however, posted a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 91%. The exports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, umbrella exports contracted remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a temperate expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 81% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Slovakia (X units), Moldova (X units) and Bulgaria (X units) were the main destinations of umbrella exports from Ukraine, together accounting for 52% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +135.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Slovakia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for umbrellas exports from Ukraine, comprising 24% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Croatia ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Bulgaria, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Slovakia totaled +120.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Croatia (-4.7% per year) and Bulgaria (+28.3% per year).

The average umbrella export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 1.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 25%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Georgia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Moldova ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Georgia (+15.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Ukraine

In 2022, imports of umbrellas into Ukraine declined notably to X units, reducing by -62.6% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 114% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, umbrella imports reduced notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 73%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined dramatically in the following year.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, umbrella import price increased by +50.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 43% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to +2.3% per year.
