The Ukrainian laundry machine market reached $X in 2021, picking up by 7.9% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a deep setback. Laundry machine consumption peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the production volume increased by 29%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X, and then declined in the following year.

Exports from Ukraine

In 2021, overseas shipments of washing, bleaching or dyeing machines decreased by -28.2% to X units, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports recorded a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 597%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, laundry machine exports shrank notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 270%. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Iran (X units) was the main destination for laundry machine exports from Ukraine, with a 75% share of total exports. Moreover, laundry machine exports to Iran exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Uzbekistan (X units), threefold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Iran stood at +7.6%.

In value terms, Iran ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Russia ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for laundry machine exported from Ukraine worldwide, with a combined 3.8% share of total exports.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of -11.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

Export Prices by Country

The average laundry machine export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 6.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 110%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Iran ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+169.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Ukraine

In 2021, imports of washing, bleaching or dyeing machines into Ukraine skyrocketed to X units, rising by 281% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a sharp reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 2,158%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, laundry machine imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports posted temperate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 5,220% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Poland (X units) constituted the largest laundry machine supplier to Ukraine, accounting for a 68% share of total imports. Moreover, laundry machine imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Switzerland (X units), sixfold. Romania (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Poland totaled +22.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Switzerland (+21.0% per year) and Romania (-33.4% per year).

In value terms, the largest laundry machine suppliers to Ukraine were China ($X), Romania ($X) and Switzerland ($X), with a combined 70% share of total imports.

Switzerland, with a CAGR of +44.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average laundry machine import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 88% against the previous year. In general, the import price posted significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 729%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+194.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
