Overall, exports, however, recorded a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 196%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, man-made filament fabric exports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 145%. The exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Poland (X tons) was the main destination for man-made filament fabric exports from Ukraine, with a 39% share of total exports. Moreover, man-made filament fabric exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X tons), threefold. The UK (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Poland stood at -1.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (-10.9% per year) and the UK (-10.3% per year).

In value terms, Poland ($X), the UK ($X) and Russia ($X) constituted the largest markets for man-made filament fabric exported from Ukraine worldwide, together accounting for 59% of total exports. These countries were followed by Romania, Moldova, Denmark, Belgium, Estonia, Slovakia, Belarus and Lithuania, which together accounted for a further 29%.

Estonia, with a CAGR of +94.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average man-made filament fabric export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 4.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 20%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2021, purchases abroad of woven fabrics of man-made filaments and staple fibers was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 55%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, man-made filament fabric imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 29%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest man-made filament fabric supplier to Ukraine, with a 54% share of total imports. Moreover, man-made filament fabric imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Pakistan (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Turkey (X tons), with a 5.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Pakistan (+5.2% per year) and Turkey (-11.9% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of woven fabrics of man-made filaments and staple fibers to Ukraine, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Pakistan ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with an 8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Pakistan (+4.7% per year) and Germany (-2.7% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average man-made filament fabric import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 10% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Turkmenistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
