Woolen Fabric Market Size in Ukraine

The Ukrainian woolen fabric market dropped to $X in 2021, with a decrease of -13% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Russia (X square meters), Belarus (X square meters) and Lithuania (X square meters) were the main destinations of woolen fabric exports from Ukraine, together comprising 78% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Lithuania (with a CAGR of +118.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for woolen fabric exported from Ukraine were Russia ($X), Belarus ($X) and Romania ($X), together accounting for 74% of total exports. Lithuania, Germany, Italy, Moldova and Kazakhstan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.

Among the main countries of destination, Lithuania, with a CAGR of +109.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average woolen fabric export price stood at $X per square meter in 2021, declining by -11.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 28% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per square meter, and then reduced in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+16.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Ukraine

In 2021, imports of woven woolen fabrics into Ukraine shrank to X square meters, falling by -12.1% on 2020. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X square meters in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, woolen fabric imports reduced to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Italy (X square meters), France (X square meters) and Denmark (X square meters) were the main suppliers of woolen fabric imports to Ukraine, together comprising 57% of total imports. China, the UK, Romania, Germany, Poland, Hungary and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in the UK (with a CAGR of +21.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
