Oman (X tons) was the main destination for baryte exports from the United Arab Emirates, with a 53% share of total exports. Moreover, baryte exports to Oman exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Mozambique (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Sudan (X tons), with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Oman totaled +29.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mozambique (+40.8% per year) and Sudan (+8.3% per year).
In value terms, Oman ($X), Sudan ($X) and Angola ($X) constituted the largest markets for baryte exported from the United Arab Emirates worldwide, together comprising 55% of total exports. These countries were followed by Mozambique, Iran, Tanzania, Uzbekistan and Yemen, which together accounted for a further 31%.
Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +201.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average baryte export price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 21% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 26% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Angola ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sudan (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, overseas purchases of barytes decreased by -30.3% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports continue to indicate a perceptible descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 157% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, baryte imports dropped rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 98%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Vietnam (X tons), Pakistan (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of baryte imports to the United Arab Emirates, with a combined 82% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Iran and China, which together accounted for a further 12%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Iran (with a CAGR of +40.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest baryte suppliers to the United Arab Emirates were Vietnam ($X), India ($X) and Pakistan ($X), together comprising 70% of total imports. China and Iran lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.
