Exports from the United Arab Emirates

In 2022, approx. X tons of beer were exported from the United Arab Emirates; with a decrease of -5.8% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a slight expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 373%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, beer exports dropped slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate moderate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 224%. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Chile (X tons) was the main destination for beer exports from the United Arab Emirates, with a 56% share of total exports. Moreover, beer exports to Chile exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Rwanda (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by India (X tons), with a 5.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Chile stood at +356.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Rwanda (+134.0% per year) and India (+13.8% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for beer exported from the United Arab Emirates were Rwanda ($X), Chile ($X) and India ($X), with a combined 66% share of total exports.

Chile, with a CAGR of +412.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average beer export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 2.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, beer export price decreased by -9.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 63% against the previous year. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+15.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the United Arab Emirates

Beer imports into the United Arab Emirates reduced dramatically to X tons in 2022, which is down by -21.9% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, showed buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 78%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, beer imports fell rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 73% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

Imports by Country

China (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of beer imports to the United Arab Emirates, with a combined 45% share of total imports. Belgium, Hong Kong SAR, Germany and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for France (with a CAGR of +24.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), China ($X) and India ($X) appeared to be the largest beer suppliers to the United Arab Emirates, together accounting for 41% of total imports. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
