The exports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

In value terms, coffee extract exports dropped markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 118% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2020, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

Jordan (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Lebanon (X tons) were the main destinations of coffee extract exports from the United Arab Emirates.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Lebanon (with a CAGR of +330.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the amount of coffee extracts, essences and concentrates imported into the United Arab Emirates skyrocketed to X tons, jumping by 18% compared with 2020 figures. In general, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +67.5% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 48%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, coffee extract imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.7% over the last nine years. In 2021, Indonesia (X tons) constituted the largest coffee extract supplier to the United Arab Emirates, with a 31% share of total imports. Moreover, coffee extract imports from Indonesia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Malaysia (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Egypt (X tons), with an 11% share.

In value terms, Egypt ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Brazil ($X) appeared to be the largest coffee extract suppliers to the United Arab Emirates, together comprising 49% of total imports. The UK, Malaysia, Spain, Vietnam, Russia, Thailand, Colombia, India, the United States and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 51%.

Russia, with a CAGR of +121.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average coffee extract import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 11% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
