In 2021, shipments abroad of cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes (excluding cyclohexane) was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, showed a deep reduction. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. The exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

India (X tons) was the main destination for cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes exports from the United Arab Emirates, with a 70% share of total exports. Moreover, cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes exports to India exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Oman (X tons), sixfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to India amounted to -8.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Oman (+89.4% per year) and the UK (-45.1% per year).

In value terms, India ($X), Oman ($X) and the UK ($X) were the largest markets for cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes exported from the United Arab Emirates worldwide, with a combined 79% share of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, Oman, with a CAGR of +98.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

For the third consecutive year, the United Arab Emirates recorded growth in supplies from abroad of cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes (excluding cyclohexane), which increased by 56% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 266%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed prominent growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

South Korea (X tons), China (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) were the main suppliers of cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes imports to the United Arab Emirates, with a combined 87% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +50.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Korea ($X), China ($X) and Indonesia ($X) constituted the largest cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes suppliers to the United Arab Emirates, together accounting for 54% of total imports.
