The capacitor market in the United Arab Emirates expanded markedly to $X in 2021, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Exports by Country
Oman (X tons) was the main destination for capacitor exports from the United Arab Emirates, accounting for a 63% share of total exports. Moreover, capacitor exports to Oman exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X tons), more than tenfold. Nigeria (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 4.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Oman was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+62.8% per year) and Nigeria (-20.2% per year).
In value terms, Oman ($X) remains the key foreign market for electrical capacitors exports from the United Arab Emirates, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 10% share of total exports. It was followed by South Africa, with a 5.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Oman totaled -1.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+80.3% per year) and South Africa (+56.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average capacitor export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, which is down by -6.7% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+10.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of electrical capacitors decreased by -1.4% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Overall, total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -7.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 35%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, capacitor imports contracted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 40% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest capacitor supplier to the United Arab Emirates, with a 48% share of total imports. Moreover, capacitor imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the UK (X tons), with a 6.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +3.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (-0.6% per year) and the UK (+3.5% per year).
In value terms, the largest capacitor suppliers to the United Arab Emirates were China ($X), India ($X) and France ($X), together accounting for 51% of total imports.
India, with a CAGR of +9.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average capacitor import price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -8.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+16.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
