Festive Articles Market Size in the United Arab Emirates
The festive articles market in the United Arab Emirates shrank rapidly to $X in 2022, waning by -24.8% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Overall, consumption, however, posted a remarkable increase. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

Exports from the United Arab Emirates
In 2022, shipments abroad of festive or carnival articles decreased by -18% to X tons, falling for the fourth consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 542% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, festive articles exports reduced to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 413%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Tanzania (X tons), India (X tons) and Mozambique (X tons) were the main destinations of festive articles exports from the United Arab Emirates, together accounting for 52% of total exports. Niger, the UK, Italy, Rwanda, France and Bahrain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Italy (with a CAGR of +94.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X), the UK ($X) and India ($X) were the largest markets for festive articles exported from the United Arab Emirates worldwide, with a combined 39% share of total exports.
France, with a CAGR of +80.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average festive articles export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, festive articles export price decreased by -2.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 65% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Niger ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+12.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into the United Arab Emirates
Festive articles imports into the United Arab Emirates declined markedly to X tons in 2022, waning by -24.6% on 2021 figures. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 99% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then fell sharply in the following year.
In value terms, festive articles imports dropped markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 92% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest festive articles supplier to the United Arab Emirates, with a 82% share of total imports. Moreover, festive articles imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), eightfold. India (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +9.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-0.8% per year) and India (+11.7% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of festive or carnival articles to the United Arab Emirates, comprising 70% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by the UK, with a 2.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +20.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-1.4% per year) and the UK (-9.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average festive articles import price amounted to $X per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 15% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
