In 2022, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of glass fibres and glass wool, when their volume increased by 13% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 134%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Kuwait (X tons), China (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) were the main suppliers of glass fibres and wool imports to the United Arab Emirates, with a combined 81% share of total imports. India, Oman, Italy and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +27.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
